Julie & Julia Moment

Wow, so not to sound cliche but I just finished dismantling a chicken.  Notice, no chickens were harmed in the process because the bird was already dead.  I know this may sound like a Julie & Julia copycat but I do enjoy cooking.  Bon Appetit's February 2012 issue has this amazing skillet fried chicken recipe.  The only excuse for not trying it is vegetarianism.  James and I tried it on Sunday and it was beyond perfect.  It even looked like the pictures, that is a rarity.  The recipe called for a 3-4 lb chicken and then you're suppose to cut it into 10 pcs.  I can now say that I have parceled a bird.  I can honestly say that it is not my passion and I definitely don't want to be a veterinarian or a meat cutter!  A big thank you to everyone who dismantles chickens so that we can enjoy our favorite pieces, I appreciate it!

Black & White, Wrong & Right

So last week I was extremely mad.  I put in for a position at work that would lead to a supervisor position.  I didn't get it, that's fine, no big deal.  I'm a big girl and I can handle that.  But they told me I didn't get it because it was a seniority issue.  But two of the people that were selected for the position have less seniority than I do.  Does that make any sense to you?  I let one of the managers have it (he's a cool guy and completely understood, he wasn't involved in the process).  He told me that I just need to "play the game" and that I shouldn't go to our store manager and confront him.  I probably shouldn't say confront, because while I really would love to let him have it, I would have curbed my temper and frustration purely for the sake of my job (self preservation).  Here is my point with all of this:

When did people lose their sense of right and wrong?  Why is everything all of the sudden grey!!!???  Do not lie to someone, its common sense and is directly related to professionalism among other things.  Why are people so political?  I can handle the truth, but I don't tolerate lies.

Anyway, later that morning after unleashing I saw the store manager, the other manager that I had unleashed on was making all sorts of motions for me to stay away.  Haha!  I think he generally thought I was just going to walk up to the manager and deck him!  For the record, I'm not a violent individual.

Since when have people lost their morality and sold their sense of propriety for a nicer title or money?
